SATURN IN VIRGO - WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE?

Ashtara
Transiting Saturn entered Virgo on 3rd September 2007 and will remain moving through this sign until 29th Oct. 09.  It will return for a brief visit from between April 8th 2010 to 21st July 2010.

So what does this mean?  Saturn requires a restructuring of a particular area of your life. Virgo is related to work, health and service.  So, it’s time to reframe these areas.  Discipline and commitment to improvement is needed. Professional people can support you achieve your goals at this time if you are willing to do the detailed work necessary.

Some delegation may be necessary as well as a re-evaluation of the way you work. So, what will you learn about yourselves during this time period? What experiences will you have?

Issues and themes to do with punishment, criticism and judgement can emerge.  How well do you handle criticism? Do you attract it, through the universal Law of Attraction, because you criticize yourself for perceived imperfections?

Everything in life is cyclic and the transiting planets have their own specific cycles. Saturn’s cycle is approximately 29 – 30 years. So, in order to get a handle on the themes you are likely to experience through 2008 - 2010 reflect on Saturn’s last transit through Virgo, from late 1977 until September 1980.  For those of you who are also of an age to reflect upon those years in your life you might choose to ask yourselves the question  “What was going on in my life during that time and what were my major learning experiences? What were the main themes and issues associated with that time period?”

For those who are not of an age to reflect back to 30 years ago, you will see a similar theme occurring in your life 14 years ago 1994/5

Saturn is very earthy, as is Virgo. Both require practicality, precision, effectiveness, discrimination and attention to detail.  Virgo is opposite the water sign of Pisces.  Water is the element that rules our feelings and emotions.

Therefore, confusion, addictive emotional escape patterns and depression can emerge from our watery depths to cloud our mind when we become upset.  Virgo doesn’t like that behaviour at all.  It wants to get on with the job!  It can’t operate at full capacity under foggy conditions.   The cloudy and veiled emotional undercurrents will need to be handled as they arise, otherwise they will sabotage the work effort.

I decide to check out what I wrote about this transit in one of my astrology workbooks, VolumeThree, Your Recipe for Empowerment through Spiritual Astrology.  The following is an excerpt.

There will be much work to do, however you will feel like doing it. My motto now is “Work smarter, not harder”!
Your work will be highlighted as well as your health; however you will only suffer ill health if you have not been doing the inner mental and emotional work demanded by Saturn.

You will need to conserve, rather than scatter your energies under this transit.  You need to be efficient and effective in your daily life and with your work.  It would be wise to have a health check-up and also have your teeth inspected.  It is a very good time to learn about your body and to experience it as a wonderful tool for consciousness-raising.

Under this transit you may become aware of nausea in your stomach from time to time and it can be a great guide to teaching you where you are at in your consciousness development. Our stomach is our best brain as it tells us the truth. So if you experience nausea it can indicate you are unable to digest new thoughts/ideas/new concepts.  It can also show when you are resistant to higher perspectives and shifts in consciousness. I often have a stomach lurch as I become illuminated to a broader self-understanding.  My stomach registers the truth and is digesting it.

Your effectiveness could be tested now.   If you are not yet aware and consciously dealing with your personal negativity you could have problems with authority figures, especially at work. You will need to demonstrate your own authority and express yourself honestly to your employer or those in your employ.  You will need to state your personal boundaries and overcome any fears you have around this.

Virgo rules the themes of healing, natural health and the health of our physical body.  It also rules the themes of purity, perfection and cleanliness.

Without good health we cannot operate effectively in our lives. Under this transit you may be challenged to learn soul lessons through ill health. It’s best to be aware and make appropriate corrections in advance.  Self-assessment through self-analysis would be wise.

Fortunately most medical practitioners recognize the value of natural, healthy food, exercise, clean air and regular exercise.  They are also accepting the fact that mental and emotional issues cause most of the health problems in the physical body.  Once we take responsibility for, and address our underlying psychological issues, our health improves.  Astrology is the most precise and accurate tool for identifying self-sabotaging psychological themes that lead to ill health and disease.

Saturn is the archetypal Taskmaster. I often liken this energy to the biblical St. Peter at the symbolic Pearly Gates – hands on hips saying  “No, my son/daughter, the time is not yet right for you to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, there is more soul work for you to do and many lessons still to learn”!

Saturn is also referred to as The Lord of Karma and the Lord of Time.  Nothing happens in our life until Saturn says so! It pays to befriend Saturn! His transit around our personal horoscope is the determining factor for the right and appropriate timing for new learning experiences and further advancement up the spiritual mountain on the journey to ascension and higher consciousness.

Good luck with your Saturn in Virgo transit.
