Since I’ve been writing these Musings I’ve been observing and correlating the psychological themes to my life, and those around me, using these New and Full Moon phases to develop greater self-awareness and self-understanding.   I realize that the issues brought up at the time of the Full Moon can take approximately seven days to clearly reveal themselves and, when appropriate action is taken on the illumination received, new and vibrant energy enters the psychological matrix. This prepares the recipient for the frequencies of the forthcoming New Moon when a different set of issues and themes begin emerging. How about you work with this concept to observe how it plays out in your life?

Some of the themes of Capricorn are those of fear, control, organization, achievement, life-path, career, professionalism, management, aloofness, responsibility, barriers, limitations and restrictions. Those with a strong package of Capricorn energy in their birth charts are likely to be experiencing some of these themes now.   Capricorn is opposite Cancer in the astrological model so issues associated with home, family, belonging and nurturance can also arise. 

There are six planets plus the Goddess Juno in Capricorn at this New Moon.  This is a large package of Capricornian energy and a strong cosmic force field.  The New Moon at early degree of Capricorn is co-joined by Mars and Pluto, making this quite an empowering and energizing, or dis-empowering and de-energizing time, depending on your level of consciousness development.  It pays to be conscious and self-aware as this enables constructive and positive use of cosmic energy.  

Pluto themes of power, manipulation, intensity, control; interference into other people’s business; secrets and deep and powerful emotions can surface now, to be observed, acknowledged, owned, embraced and released. Mars aligns with this New Moon and requires that new, independent, confident and assertive action be taken. This action is likely to be related to a more empowering life-path or a new aspect to your existing career for which greater responsibility is needed and a new framework created. I’m getting the image of high, expansive and strong steel scaffolding surrounding an old building!

Old outworn physical and psychological structures can be re-worked or completely re-built to enable a more solid foundation from which to launch yourself into the world in 2009.   It is important that this new area of activity be aligned with your heart and soul, as this enables success.

Transiting Jupiter joins with Mercury in the Capricorn dance so some big ideas or self-understandings can pop into your head, via your intuition, that require attention to detail and discernment. These ideas can relate to the Capricorn themes. For example: you can become aware of a once deeply hidden fearful aspect of yourself. Control patterns have developed around this fear that keep you in a box of limitation.   The fear has revealed itself because it is time for it to be acknowledged, owned, embraced and transformed. The ability to now see it provides the opportunity for a new beginning, if willing to bust through the fear and limitation. Freedom from bondage is the result.  What an outstanding and long-term achievement!

Fear is a great motivator.  It takes commitment and hard work to break through the fear barriers yet the results are extraordinary. I’ve learned to respect and befriend Capricorn, and it’s planetary ruler, Saturn and work with the energy rather than allow it to hold me in fear and limitation. I often reflect of the pictorial symbol of Capricorn – the mountain goat.  It climbs the highest of mountains, sure-footed, secure and without fear.   The mountain is symbolic for the spiritual mountain we all climb to attain evolutionary purpose. 

Should your ideas be related to your life-path or career and feel energizing and useful it would be wise to run with them. Develop a framework around them, as they are likely to bring long-term beneficial results.
