FULL MOON & LUNAR ECLIPSE JANUARY 1st 2010 – 11 DEGREES CANCER 5.12 AM AEST

Any Full or New Moon connected to an eclipse provides a greater potency of cosmic energy. The themes of this eclipse series, according to highly respected Australian astrologer Bernadette Brady in her book The Eagle and the Lark, indicate that opportunities to accept greater responsibilities can come suddenly into a person’s life.  These are likely to arise as a result of another person being unable to carry on.  The events that bring in these opportunities may seem difficult but the outcomes are positive because there is likely to be an increased level of self-esteem and harmony.

This eclipse series falls on the Cancer/Capricorn axis.  The Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse have the Moon posited in Cancer whilst the Sun opposite is in Capricorn, both at 11 degrees.  The New Moon and Solar Eclipse, 14 days later, will have both the Sun and Moon at 25 degrees of Capricorn. The themes of an eclipse series lasts for up to 18 months so whatever you are directing your energy into around the time of the eclipse series is likely to continue for possibly 18 months. 

To aid your understanding I’ll list some key words associated with the themes and issues of Cancer/Capricorn.  We all have these zodiacal energies in our psychological matrix, to differing degrees. Those readers who have planets or points in their birth chart around 11 degrees Cancer and/or 25 degrees Capricorn/ Aries and Libra, all cardinal signs, will experience the effects of this Eclipse series and Moon cycle more so than others.

Cancer:  The Crab.  Functional:  Home and family lover, supportive, caring, nurturing, ‘mother’ archetype, sensitive, psychic, memories, emotional mastery.  Dysfunctional: insecure, clingy, needy, moody and emotionally immature. Opposites attract in order to learn from each other.   During this Moon cycle you may experience tests and challenges to overcome your fears.  It would be wise to choose to pass the tests so you can experience the rewards of having done so.   You may be tested to take on extra responsibility through a family member.   You may be tested to assertively express your needs to a perceived authority, possibly a family member.  You may feel attached to your home and family yet feel a pull to move on in your life. It is important to let go of the past unhappy memories and move forward. You may need to separate yourself from your old life for a period of time in order to gain a more objective perspective.

During this Full Moon there will be five placements in Capricorn as Pluto, Venus, Sun, Mercury and North Node.   Opposing these is the Full Moon. What does this mean?

There may be an opportunity to transform cold and non-supportive relationships through your willingness to take personal responsibility for your part in the dynamics.  Venus brings the opportunity to create balance to disharmonious emotionally charged situations whilst Mercury provides the necessary mental abilities to understand the cause of your disharmony.   The most important relationship is to your divine self so there may be an opportunity to see yourself more clearly and observe how you play cold, hard, controlling or clingy, needy and emotionally insecure psychological games that separate you from love.  It would be wise indeed to take responsibility for them.   

With Mars retrograde you are likely to turn your attention inwards to explore your motivations and desires.  Then, with greater self-awareness you can make appropriate and responsible adjustments to your 2010 goals and objectives.

A New Moon is a time for new beginnings.  It is a good time to plant seeds of positive change into the fertile soil of your imagination.   This can be done both symbolically during a meditation and physically through gardening.   It is the intent behind the gesture that is so important and, when sincere, heartfelt and achievable intent is aligned with feeling and action, manifestation occurs.

Venus, Sun and Moon are all at the same 25 degrees so their energy is intertwined.   Relationships are definitely highlighted. You may even begin a new relationship that is likely to be long lasting and emotionally mature.

Capricorn themes relating to your status in life, ambitions, reputation and goals may be highlighted.  Mercury retrograde and Pluto dance together again offering the potentiality of deep and powerful transformational communication. Words have power and can be used to transform or destroy.  The power of responsible heart-based spoken truth is transforming.  At this New Moon and Solar Eclipse you may have the opportunity to speak the truth of your deepest feelings and inner knowing.  It would be wise to do so, responsibly.

You may feel the urge to begin the construction of your ideal home this year so may take the initiatory practical and organisational steps to do so. 

Jupiter is nearing the end of its sojourn through Aquarius and is now posited at 29 degrees.    For those people with this degree in their charts there will be an opportunity for spiritual growth in order to raise your level of consciousness.  Opportunities are often disguised as loss so see beyond any apparent loss and move forward into expansion, at all times being in absolute ethics, integrity, love and truth.
