Transiting Mars moves through Cancer from September 29th 2007 to May 9th 2008 with a brief return to Gemini from January 1st 2008 to 4th March. So, what does this mean?
This cosmic combination will affect everyone in differing ways however the themes and psychological issues that arise will be the same. These relate to home, family, emotional security, soul memories, belonging, career, profession and societal status. Limitations and fears might arise as you contemplate moving out from a safe and familiar environment. This may be either an internal or an external environment. Positive, pro-active confident action (Mars) is needed to alleviate emotional insecurity (Cancer).
When I feel the impulse to write an article on a particular subject I know I will experience the theme first so I can identify the energy. In order to know truth one needs to experience it. Truth is then shared with authenticity. So how have I experienced this transit since Mars entered Cancer on 29th September?
I now see it as a Cosmic Joke in all its full-blown glory! And I enjoy the joke.
Firstly my body started coming out in red, angry rashes (Mars). This was spasmodic and usually became fully activated by the end of the day. I totally believe that the body is the barometer of the soul so I take great notice of these bodily signs, choosing to take responsibility for them. So I developed an angry irritation related to my comfort zone and career! I was obviously angry and frustrated because my body said so! “ So”, I thought, “I must be stuck in my comfort zone”. To partially remedy this situation I started walking vigorously each morning, anchoring the fiery Mars energy into Mother Earth. A six- kilometre walk was easy. Power walking energizes me. Then I felt frustrated (Mars) with one of my male students. He acted as my catalyst, challenging me to make changes in my life! My next Mars activation came from my very fiery, active, dynamic pint-sized daughter. She also challenged me to change, and has often played this role.
I realized I’m unable to go back to my former career! I must move forward into new, unknown territory. My comfort zone of cancer emotional security is a nice place to rest, but only as a temporary measure! I’m unable to stay there any longer. I review the past few years to establish what it is that has energized, excited and engrossed me totally. What is it that that has stretched me, yet felt ‘right’? Illumination dawns! It is not what I have been focusing on recently! I choose to make the necessary changes.
Numerologically, 2008 is a time of new beginnings and we can start planning for these new beginnings now. You will be feeling the urge to do so.
The masculine energy of Mars will catalyse the feminine principle (Cancer) into actioning something positive. If unaware of this activation we can stay in our comfort zone, clutching that worn-out security blanket! We then feel angry and frustrated! It’s our emotion and it’s best to own it and question the reason for it. The aggressive, “me first”, dominating, brash, impatient dense masculine energy can be overpowering to the sensitive feminine and one doesn’t have to be in a significant relationship to experience it. However, this masculine energy will catalyse the feminine into “Making Home”. What does this mean?
Your new positive pioneering step may feel scary at first. You are entering unknown territory. However, it will also feel ‘right’. One needs to go into the unknown in order to develop a greater sense of emotional security and a feeling of belonging.
Anastasia’s remarkable books, written by Russian writer Vladimir Megre, offer the best way I know to describe, create and experience “Making Home”. I highly recommend them as they contain valuable life-enhancing information. They are easy to read yet are very potent! They have already sold millions of copies around the world yet have not been on the market for long. According to ancient esoteric wisdom a new light would arise from Russia in the 21st Century that would bring huge transformative change to the world. I believe these books are that light.

American astrologer/author Barbara Hand Clow in her book The Pleiadian Agenda, A New Cosmology for the Age of Light also has wise words to say about “Making Home”. She speaks about the importance of creating a home and land space that feels just right and then anchoring and radiating our energy into that space. It is this land that needs to feel nurturing to you. She says that soon all of us will be “grounders of geometric light forms into earth”. I totally understand this because, during the last few years, I have done this geometric grounding work in many different power places around the world.
We are periodically coded to love a certain place on the planet and we will be drawn to this place. We will feel unsettled until we find it. It doesn’t matter in which country we establish ourselves. We will feel a soul yearning to live in this place for a particular period of time. Every inch of the planet is coded with incredible creative force. The ancient wisdom teachers knew this teaching and practiced it during the astrological Ages of Taurus 4320 – 2160BC and Scorpio. 17,280 BC – 15,120 BC. Now, as we enter the Age of Aquarius, (part of the fixed cross formation between Taurus/Scorpio; Leo/Aquarius) this ancient wisdom and knowledge about “Making Home”: is being remembered. We are being drawn to the area/place in the world where we feel most “at home”. It is important to attune to this place and learn to feel it in our hearts. We need to seek a place where we feel expansive and energized.
“Making Home” in our special place will enable us to feel safe, emotionally secure and happy. From this place creative forces from the land and from within our cellular memory will arise and we will act on these memories. We will feel and love the land as part of ourselves. We are to create a Space of Love in a place that resonates with out soul. “Making Home” is also an ancient North American Indian teaching.
Choose to live in a place that expands and energizes you. Go into the world and do exactly what you fear the most, observing yourself very carefully as you do so. Own the fears, make friends with them and choose to move through them. Intend what you want and be aware of the “shoulds” or any other limitations that come up. They are fear barriers. Follow your fascination. Be aware of synchronicities. Nature provides symbols and synchronicities for us to observe and use as tools to greater awareness.
The New and Full Moons during this Mars transit are likely to bring up emotional issues because the Moon rules the sign of cancer. Use the energy well to work through emotional and mental density. A new world awaits, one that doesn’t contain psychological density. I feel this transit of Mars through Cancer will awaken the need for “Making Home” within our souls. Other planetary transits have been preparing the way and now Mars is the activating trigger to have it happen. Our soul is crying out for that feeling of belonging. It is time to honour our soul’s longing.
