What does Saturn in Libra mean to me?

Hands up who has relationship problems?  No hands showing – I don’t believe it!  It is through intimate relationships that most people experience their greatest growth.  Saturn moved fully into Libra on 22nd July 2010 and will stay in that sign until October 2012.   Prior to this date Saturn travelled through the sign of Virgo for two and a half years.

Virgo has a different flavour to Libra.  Through Virgo many people experienced work related and/or health problems. Many reviewed, re-evaluated and restructured their lives in order to create a stronger foundation.  For some this may have been a necessity due to ill health.  It is interesting that the major issue of the Australian Government during this time period was the restructuring of work place agreements!

With Saturn in Libra the themes and issues change.  Relationships become Saturn’s restructuring arena.   Should you be having relationship problems then this cosmic current provides the timing for you to get your relating act together and to take responsibility for the part you play in the dynamics.  From my perspective there are two ways to do this.  One is by learning astrology, which is a wonderful tool to decode emotions with thought, and the other is to learn to view the person with whom you have an emotional charge as if through a mirror.

The other person will be mirroring a disowned and unconscious aspect of your self. Woops! Maybe you didn’t want to read that!  You cannot see a trait, negative or positive, that you like or dislike in your partner if is not in you! e.g. If you perceive the person with whom you have an emotional upset as stubborn and refusing to accept support then know, on some deeper level, you play the same game. You wouldn’t have an emotional charge around it if you didn’t carry it!  It is your emotion and it would be wise to take responsibility for it.

You can do this by extracting cause of why it is so – and then heal it.  Once healed you will experience a more balanced relationship with others and will then attract an entirely new type of person into your life who will assist you develop greater self-understanding about a completely different issue or theme!

Libra, an air sign, is connected to relationships, balance, justice, diplomacy and fair play.  Dysfunctional Libra likes things to be NICE (Nothing Inside of me Cares Enough) and will do anything to keep the peace, even playing doormat.   However Saturn requires maturity, accountability and responsibility. Maturity requires emotional, mental and physical mastery.  Reacting childishly to emotionally charged relationship issues provides you with the opportunity to self-examine and correct.

Everyone will experience this new cosmic set up in differing ways depending upon your level of consciousness and birth chart energetics.  It is by working consciously with this energy that you will enable greater joy, happiness, wellbeing and good health in your life.

Saturn is often referred to as the archetypal Lord of Time seemingly holding back the reins of progress until the cosmic timing is right.  When Saturn activates your personal energy field you may, if unconscious, feel trapped, lonely, depressed, sad, bound in chains and burdened by responsibilities of your own making. However, you can decide to review and constructively restructure your life. This requires that you accept responsibility for past creations and then choose to consciously create a better future in the now.

Libra is opposite Aries in the zodiac and the two forces can be likened to one coin with two sides.   Dysfunctionally Aries can be selfish so thinks primarily of Me and My agenda, whilst Libra thinks of We and the relationship agenda.  Me v we! Libra is the balancing energy to energetic, dynamic and initiatory Aries and is inspired by peace, harmony, beauty, fairness and justice. Functional Aries is self-driven, confident and assertive. Everyone has these internal opposing forces.

The question is - how can these internal forces work well together without Libra playing the compromise game? Now is the time to find out! One obvious way to constructively utilize these two forces is to motivate your self, through confidence and self-assertion, to create something new that will enable peace, harmony and balance within yourself.  When this creation is established and a solid foundation is built around it you will then be ready to share your stable grounded peace-loving energy, ideas, artistry and creations with the world.

Legal affairs, artistry, beauty, co-operation, negotiation, mediation, peace, balance and harmony will be major themes for the next two years.  Saturn was in Libra approximately twenty-nine years ago.  Lots can happen in twenty-nine years! For those old enough you might like to reflect on what was going on in your life around 1981/82 to see if there are similar themes occurring in your life now. Planetary cycles repeat and the same issues will arise if not completely dealt with previously.

Saturn is in exaltation in Libra, an air sign relating to the mind and mental faculties.  When an individual learns to develop mental mastery harmony and balance is achieved. The result of this dedicated practice is that your mind can become as a still, clear and pure pond and act as a receptacle for higher vibration frequencies of light. When each individual chooses to create inner peace through the conscious development of mental and emotional mastery then peace will be experienced upon the planet.

For more advanced souls, this transit of Saturn in Libra can be the vehicle through which your continuing dedicated consciousness development enables you to move up a rung on the spiritual ladder to ascension.  In esoteric astrology language you may be ready to “mount the cardinal cross” and accept your karmic duty and responsibility to humankind.  To enable this advance you will have learned to balance your internal opposing forces by utilizing the high frequency of love and now desire nothing more than to be of loving planetary service.

It is then your spiritual ‘job’ will become evident and you will be tested on your commitment to this path.

This is the way of all initiates on the journey to the light.
