Key life passages are universal change points triggered by the orbiting planets around the Sun. The energetic influence from these planets activates humans to move beyond ‘herd’ mentality. Key life passages can be likened to important spiritual initiations or turning points in an individual’s life. When working consciously with these key life passages we can alleviate a great deal of life’s struggles.
We are evolving spiritual beings with a hidden agenda of soul growth. However, our personality self is often unconscious of this. This hidden agenda of our soul is to become conscious and self-aware so we can manifest our potential. The astrological birth chart indicates this potential and also indicates the psychological blockages we need to work through to enable the attainment of our potential. The planetary cycles aid this process.
Following are some of the key life passages for you to reflect upon. When you do so you will be able to understand your life from a higher perspective.
Jupiter is the planetary ruler of the sign of Sagittarius and has a 12- year cycle. The themes Jupiter activates are related to moving forward spiritually, expansion into higher knowledge, self-understanding and spiritual growth. Key Words: Expansion, spiritual growth, religion, spirituality, truth, travel, higher education, beliefs, natural law, prejudice, bigotry. Developing wisdom. Being truth.
Jupiter rules the hips, thighs and liver. Should you have problems in these areas of your body then you will be mentally negating your inner spiritual directives to move forward in your life.
Every twelve years Jupiter travels back to its original position in the sky. This is represented in the birth chart. During the course of that travel it touches every birth chart placement. These are the times you are likely to feel more expansive, optimistic, able to see a ‘bigger picture’ of your life, travel or move to another location. These times may involve a stretch. Your soul is urging you to move forward.
Opportunities in educational advancement, travel, religious or spiritual studies, teaching or moving location may be provided to you. Reflect on your life at ages 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 etc. What stretch, opportunity for expansion was taking place for you then? It may have come about through loss. With this knowledge you can prepare for the next cycle.
Saturn is the planetary ruler of the sign of Capricorn and has a 29-year cycle.
Themes and key words: Discipline, commitment, achievements, awards, results, success, failure, fears, structures, systems, professional, business, manifestation of goals, authority, fear of authority, responsibility, maturity, time, karma, restrictions, limitations, serious, cautious, pessimistic, harsh reality. This twenty-nine year cycle, which can be divided into four mini-cycles of approx. seven years, is often a time when we feel tested, trapped, limited or burdened.
“It’s time”, says Saturn,” to become more mature, to take greater personal responsibility”. Reflect on your life around age 29. Did you have the opportunity, through marriage, birth of a baby, promotion in a job, losing a job, to become more mature and self-responsible? What happened fourteen and half years following that time? Were you tested to take on greater responsibility? Were the themes of Saturn mentioned above relevant?
Any pains in the bones such as back, knees, teeth usually occur when transiting Saturn activates a point in your birth chart. These are “wake-up” calls to alert you to the fact that life force cosmic energy is not flowing through your body because you are engaging in restrictive and limited thinking. Should your 29-year old experience have been unpleasant you can commit to ensuring the next one, between the ages of 56 – 58, will be a breeze. This means you will need to take positive action to raise your level of self-awareness. And act accordingly and appropriately. Commitment, discipline, responsibility and hard work are likely to be involved. Saturn is a great motivator to aid achievement and success.
Chiron rules the sign of Virgo and co-rules Sagittarius and has 50-year cycle.
Themes and key words: Wounded healer, teacher, natural therapies, astrology, illumination, higher consciousness, psychological and physical wounds, alienate, inferior, inadequate, separation, abandonment, rejection and integrity. Holistic health, balance between mind, body and spirit. Balance between the internal masculine and feminine energies.
Around the ages of 49-51 a higher frequency cosmic energy begins to activate individuals. It is attempting to bring light to the chakra system (specialized subtle-energy transducers) and ignite spiritual emergence. If the body has too many psychological blockages (energetic psychological density) it is unable to handle this new vibration and health issues can arise. During a Chiron return early childhood memories and traumas can surface. These may have been previously hidden from your consciousness. Dreams can be indicative of these traumas.
Chiron’s energy can be likened to a key that we can use to unlock the door of our unconscious to extract soul purpose. It is often a time when the soul's urge for a specific form of creative expression is made known. This urge is experienced through spiritual feelings and inner urges to change.
Chiron is often referred to as the energetic bridge that connects the former boundaries of consciousness (Saturn) with higher consciousness (Uranus). Whenever travelling Chiron makes an energetic connection to a birth chart parts of the individual’s soul ‘wounding’ can arise. This wounding is likely to be submerged in the subconscious. The package of dense energy that contains the themes and memories will be stored in a specific part of the body creating weakness until the issue is identified, accepted and completely healed on all of the bodies, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. For those over this age you might like to reflect on your life journey around the above years. Do some of the key words and themes have meaning to you?
From my perspective Chiron enables integration through the attainment of higher consciousness. From integration emerges integrity. Integrity means to live according to the wisdom of your body’s sensations, feelings, heart and soul and to surrender the hold of your personality ego (lower) self. This requires the development of acute self-awareness and self-understanding through self-observation and self-analysis. Astrology is a wonderful tool to aid this process. Paying close attention and really listening to the voice of your heart and soul are part of the development process. The soul makes itself felt through feelings and yearnings. It is not an intellectual process.
I believe the transition that takes place at this age is to enable soul (or Higher Self) infusion. The change from the personality ruled individual to the allowance of soul infusion is a huge life step and many people choose not to go there. Yet the fulfillment, joy and vibrant good health experienced are well worth the inner journey.
Uranus is the planetary ruler the sign of Aquarius) and has an 84-year cycle. This long cycle can be divided into two cycles of approximately 42 years.
Themes and key words: illumination, enlightenment, higher consciousness, innovative, unique, rebellion, revolutionary, technology, science, astrology, futuristic concepts, restlessness, abandonment, separation, rejection, arrogance, trauma, change.
Around ages 40- 42 Uranus moves to the point opposite its natal birth chart placement. Individuals are activated by this higher frequency cosmic energy that enables changes, spiritual emergence (often through crisis) and advancement of consciousness. This can feel both exciting and unsettling. Uranus energy is a higher frequency electrical voltage. It can “fry” a brain if that brain is naturally over stimulated. As with any electrical energy it needs “earthing”.
Anxiety, shakes, spasms, restlessness, shocks, tingling, and perceptions of inner light and sounds can appear in the body under this influence. It can feel like an inner earthquake is happening. It’s time to “wake-up”. This is an opportunity to accelerate and advance your natural intelligence (as against intellect).
It can be a time when the serpent like kundalini energy begins to rise from the base chakra. If this serpent like stream of energy meets energetic blockages stress can result until the psychological blockage is identified, accepted and the negativity released. It is a time when the opportunity is presented for spiritual evolution by identifying and releasing former unconscious mental blocks. An individual may experience physical problems such as the onset of a “shaking” disorder, nervous tension, ankle and blood circulatory problems. These problems are likely to continue until self-awareness and identification of cause is completely understood and responsibility taken for it. It is then the energetic density contained within the trauma package can be released.
There are other planetary cycles that influence the evolution of human consciousness. The above cycles can activate mid-life crisis and that is why I focused on them.
